Product Description

Up for sale, a 1966 Custom Kraft Ambassador Deluxe model 4166 vintage electric guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in the USA by Valco (parent company of Supro, National, Airline, etc), this single pickup wonder is 100% original save for a new single-ply pickguard courtesy of Pickguardian. Fitted with one oversized single coil pickup, theres plenty of sizzle, punch, and power on tap as a single large ceramic bar magnet gives this pickup a unique tonal character. The guitar weighs in at a mere 6lbs 2oz, balances well on a strap, and is setup with comfortable action and 10-46 strings.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile that borders on the slender side at the nut, but has plenty of roundness in the shoulders and notably more depth in the higher registers of the fretboard, filling out to almost "baseball bat" proportions. Theres some subtle birdseye figuring in the profile too, highlighted by the original gloss three-tone sunburst finish. The slab Brazilian rosewood fretbaord features pearl dot inlays as well as original slender fretwire that is virtually flawless, featuring perfectly rounded crowns. At the nut, the neck measures just shy of 1 3/4" and the scale length is 24 3/4" on the 21 fret neck. On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe double line tuning machines are intact with stock white buttons, and the large sweeping Custom Kraft logo with blue lion in a halo of gold has to be hands down one of the coolest vintage guitar headstock designs ever concocted.
The original pickup is wired to a pair of stock CTS pots, along with the original tone cap and gold knobs that are incredibly minty. The stock floating bridge and tailpiece cover also are particularly clean, accented by the clean, white single-ply pickguard. Cosmetically, this model is in great shape and the sunburst finish is vibrant and unfaded. There are some light nicks and dings on the body as a whole and near the rear strap button in particular, as well as some marks on the back where the nitro lacquer has reacted slightly to laying on top of a cable for an extended period of time. Otherwise, this is a clean and complete vintage Custom Kraft, manufactured by Valco and professionally setup!
The original form fit chipboard case is included.
