Product Description

1961 Airline NeckFrom Town & Country Model
Rare 1961 Airline Town & Country Maple Neck w/ Rosewood fretboard in original condition. It came from a rough, but functional guitar at the time that it was disassembled for a restoration project. One of the "mother of toilet seat" inlays is missing (see close-up) with others that have shrunken somewhat with age (see picture). The rosewood fretboard has some tight cracking along with the grain (see close-ups). The binding is a little rough with Gretsch-like binding-rot in two areas (both pictured) including on the bass-side of the nut (see close-up). The frets appear original and they had enough meat for the guitar to set-up and play well prior to the disassembly. The original finish is in ok condition with the Tobacco Burst still intact. There is what appears to be a small nail in the headstock beneath the logo (see close-up). No structural issues. It is pretty straight down both sides, these late 50s-early 60s Valco "baseball bat" necks rarely bend.
